People that say this sounds like a trombone have either never heard good trumpet playing or never heard good trombone playing. They are two different instruments and the bass trumpet shares the unique trumpet timbre that you can't quite get with a valve trombone.

some guy on here made a trumpet out of a coke bottle, Not too great, but add the mouthpiece off one of these things, or a real mouthpiece, it could sound pretty good.

You should write down the notes and give them to him. I'd like to play that myself.
